Mayowa Basit Abdulsalam, a COASTHazar alumnus from the 1st cohort (2022-2024), led a scientific study that is now published in the journal Coastal Engineering of Elsevier. The study titled ‘Assessing shoreline orientation variation across diverse coastal environments’ reveals that equilibrium-based shoreline evolution models (EBSEMs) perform well in predicting shoreline orientation on short-term and seasonal timescales. Variations in shoreline orientation were modelled for beaches in diverse coastal environments in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Spain. These findings are important for long-term shoreline management and adaptation planning. We are proud of Mayowa and his achievement!
