The non-governmental organisation (NGO) Friendship from Bangladesh has joined the COASTHazar Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programme as an Associated Partner, strengthening the programme’s link to real-world challenges in climate vulnerable coastal regions. Through its work in remote coastal and riverine areas of Bangladesh, Friendship has developed innovative approaches to addressing climate change impacts, including rising sea levels, stronger cyclones, and environmental degradation.
Its integrated initiatives in climate adaptation, community resilience, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods provide valuable field experience that complements the interdisciplinary focus of the COASTHazar programme. This partnership will allow students to engage with practical examples of climate risk management and locally grounded adaptation strategies in highly exposed coastal environments, helping prepare future professionals to design inclusive responses to coastal climate hazards.
