COASTHazar Seminar Week on Career Paths

Last week, COASTHazar had the pleasure of hosting a seminar week focused on career development and professional journeys. The programme brought together colleagues and invited speakers from COASTHazar’s associated partners, who generously shared their experiences, insights, and lessons learned throughout their careers.

The seminar week is designed to encourage students to look beyond the core courses of the programme. It provides inspiration for selecting MSc research topics—potentially in collaboration with associated partners—and supports students in exploring future career paths and opportunities after completing the MSc programme.

Throughout the week, participants were exposed to a wide range of perspectives from both academia and industry. Among the invited speakers were Prof. Ioan Nistor (University of Ottawa), Dr. Niels Jacobsen (DHI), and Dr. Sofia Caires (Deltares), who each offered valuable insights into their respective fields and career trajectories.

The week concluded with a visit to Deltares, where additional seminars were given, followed by a tour of the laboratory facilities. This provided students with a unique opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications in a real-world research environment. The seminar week was an inspiring and valuable experience, helping students broaden their horizons and take meaningful steps toward shaping their future careers.
