These are the most frequently asked questions:

QUESTION: Can the deadline for scholarship application be extended?
ANSWER: The deadlines for Erasmus Mundus scholarship application cannot be extended.

 

QUESTION: How many Erasmus Mundus scholarships are you providing?
ANSWER: On average between 20-25 scholarships per year will be awarded.
 
QUESTION: Is it necessary to have English tests done at the moment of applying? Or can I take the test after review of my application or being admitted to the program?
ANSWER: You may already submit your application for admission earlier without English test results and then upload the test results later. If you wish to be eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, you need to apply before 8th January 2024 at the latest. If you do not have your English test results available before 8th January, you still have the possibility to upload them before 29th February 2024 at the latest. Your application will then still be considered for a scholarship. You have to login to your online application, upload the English test results. Do not forget to tick the COMPLETE button.

 
QUESTION: I am not a native English speaker from one of the countries listed under the list of countries for which a language certificate is not required. But I have followed several years of education in English. Do I still need to present you with a TOEFL or IELTS test result?
ANSWER: Yes. If your country is not among the countries in the exemption list you are requested to do the English test. The only exception that we make is if you did your BSc study in a native English speaking country. In such a case a statement of the university where you did your bachelor, should be uploaded at the place in your online application, where you are requested to upload your English test results.
 
QUESTION: I have not yet completed my bachelor degree. Can I apply? 
ANSWER: Students in their last year of BSc study can also apply. They need to show proof of their studies with a duly signed and stamped statement that declares that they are currently in their last year. They need to include the transcript of records showing all courses completed and all uncompleted courses for which they are enrolled. The statement should mention in which month they are expecting to obtain the diploma. A valid bachelor diploma (a temporary diploma is acceptable for last year students) will be required no later than August 15 of the year the program starts. Should you be selected for a scholarship and are not able to provide the official diploma after August 15, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn
 
QUESTION: I have completed my studies but don't have a transcript of records (yet)
ANSWER: your application is not valid and cannot be accepted without a full transcript of records including grades obtained and showing the average mark. Authenticated or certified copies are copies with an official stamp to verify that the copies are true copies of original documents. This official stamp may be from one of the following: a solicitor/notary, the educational institution from where the student gained the diplomas or the local council/local authority/local government office. It is required that you include the official grading system used by the university or country, if this is not clearly explained on the flip side of the transcript. In case this is missing, your application will be rejected.
 
QUESTION: Can I send my documents in another language than English?
ANSWER: Communication and all the official documents including BSc diplomas / transcripts of records/ certificates etc., should be in English. This does not count for passports. If you cannot arrange translation of the documents before the application deadline, you can send us an unofficial English translation for the time being. Should you be selected for a scholarship, we need to receive your BSc documents translated by a certified (sworn) translator. At that moment, you need to send us a certified copy of the original document (in the language that is not English) with an original stamp, and a certified copy of the translation. 

QUESTION: To whom should motivation and recommendation letters be addressed?
ANSWER: Motivation and recommendation letters can be addressed to the coordinator of the programme, or "To whom it may concern".
 
QUESTION: When can I expect the outcome of my application?
ANSWER: We expect to inform all Erasmus Mundus scholarship applicants before 31st May 2024 about the outcome of their application for admission and scholarship. In case you will not be selected for a scholarship, you may consider to pay the cost by other means. After you have applied for admission, you will receive an automated mail and will not receive further information before the scholarship selection has taken place.
 
QUESTION: What are the costs of the programme, if I wish to pay by other means than Erasmus scholarship?
ANSWER:  

Tuition fee payable: € 18,000 (excluding VAT) for 2-year programme.
Other costs:​​

• Insurance: € 40 per month / € 960 total

• Visa cost estimated at € 300 for the complete programme

• In addition, we estimate that a student may need on average €1,115 per month to cover costs of living and travelling between partner institutes.

 
QUESTION: If I wish to pay for the programme by other means, what is the deadline to pay?
ANSWER: The deadline to make your payment is 1 June 2024. However, with regard to long visa procedures for you are strongly advised to send your financial confirmation well before that date. If you are from a country for which you do not need a visa, the deadline of payment is 31 July 2024.

 

QUESTION: Can I apply for more than one Erasmus Mundus programme and scholarship?

ANSWER: You are kindly requested to apply to one Erasmus Mundus programme only in a particular year. Please limit your application to the programme for which you stand a fair chance of being selected. It is allowed though to apply for more than one Erasmus Mundus programme, organized by IHE Delft, but the selection committee may have doubts about your motivation for a specific programme in your case, which may be of influence during the scoring of your application for scholarship.

QUESTION: When does the programme officially start?

ANSWER: The academic programme in Santander, Spain on the first week of September, 2024, with a welcoming week. You are requested to arrive there some days earlier for registration and introduction. The academic calendar is available on the website.

QUESTION: Can the recommendation letters be sent in anonymously?

ANSWER: ​If desired by the referee, the recommendation letters can be sent anonymously by the referees to the email address: erasmusregistration-ch@un-ihe.org ; in that case a letter with a brief statement indicating this preference can be submitted instead of the recommendation letter in the online submission form. Please ask the referee to use your full name or a similar remark.
